iQ Hit-and-Hold Driver
High-efficiency driver for solenoid systems !
Solenoid valves require a strong initial surge of power to actuate, but once engaged, they only need a fraction of that energy to stay energized. The iQ Hit-and-Hold Driver is designed to take advantage of this characteristic. It delivers a fast “hit” of full voltage to guarantee reliable actuation, then automatically shifts to a reduced holding phase—maintaining performance while significantly lowering power consumption and heat generation.
Reliable and Efficient Operation
The iQ Hit-and-Hold Driver supports a wide input range of 10–32 VDC and delivers up to 1.5 A of current. It applies full voltage for ~100 ms to guarantee actuation, then transitions to a PWM-controlled hold at 40% of the supply voltage. Operating at a 25 kHz PWM frequency, it reduces audible noise and EMI while maintaining smooth, consistent control. This design results in over 80% lower steady-state power consumption and significantly reduced coil heating compared to constant-voltage operation.
Durable and Versatile Performance
Built for industrial environments, the Hit-and-Hold Driver operates reliably from –40 °C to +85 °C. Its compact and robust design includes a screw-in terminal connector for secure installation and long-lasting performance. Either by reducing energy use, improving response time, or minimizing coil stress, the driver extends system life while enabling more compact and efficient designs.
